Let’s Support Nafisa 💙
Hey everyone,
I want to share something deeply personal and important about our dear friend and colleague, Dr. Nafisa.
Nafisa is a young doctor from Bangladesh who recently joined the NHS after working incredibly hard to pass her PLAB exams—and most recently, the MRCP Part 1. She began her journey here as a medical registrar, full of ambition, compassion, and hope for the future.
However, just a few months into her new role, Nafisa began feeling unwell. While undergoing tests for a possible connective tissue disorder, she received devastating news: she was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer, which has already spread to her lymph nodes.
This diagnosis has been a huge emotional and physical blow. Her workup is still ongoing to determine the full extent of the disease, and treatment will follow shortly after. Thankfully, the NHS is providing her care, and our Trust has been supportive—but as many of you know, NHS sick pay only provides one month of full pay and one month at half pay. Nafisa won’t be able to work for at least six months, possibly longer.
This is where we come in. 💛
We’re reaching out to our community—friends, colleagues, and kind-hearted people everywhere—to support Nafisa during this incredibly challenging time. She still needs to cover rent, bills, and daily expenses, and ideally, we want to raise enough to ensure she's financially supported for at least the next year. That way, she can fully focus on her recovery without the added burden of financial stress.
Even the smallest donation can make a real difference. Nafisa has always dedicated herself to caring for others. Now, it’s our turn to care for her.
