Abdul Karim Balouch is the new VC of QUEST Nawabshah
He received his B.E (Electronics) in 1975, from University of Sindh, M.Phil from University of Southampton (UK) and Ph.D from University of Bradford (UK).
He has 35-years teaching and research experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the field of Electronic & Telecommunication Engineering. He is a recipient of Central Overseas Training Scholarship by Government of Pakistan for higher studies aboard. During his Ph.D studies at Bradford University, UK he was a fellow Ministry of Defense, UK. He was Fulbright Scholar at the University of Central Florida, Orlando USA during 2001-2002 for Post-Doctoral research in the field of Wireless Communication. He is recipient of best University teacher award from Higher Education Commission (HEC) Government of Pakistan. He is a senior member of IEEE USA, life Fellow IEP and member PEC. He remained a member of senate and syndicate of Mehran University Jamshoro.
Dr. Baloch has published more than 35 research papers in journals and conferences of international repute. He has represented Pakistan in 12 International conferences abroad and attended more than 20 conferences in the areas of his research interest in Pakistan. He has published 10 op-ed articles on engineering education, social and human issues in national newspapers such as Dawn and The News. He has co-authored two technical books and supervised more than 45 Master’s level research projects.
He did pioneering work in the field of University-Industry interaction, in his University. As a Director Institute of Information and Communication Technologies he established and consolidated postgraduate courses in Electronic & Telecom Engineering. He is member board of studies, selection board, and Ph.D examiner for many Universities in Pakistan. He is member board of Directors, United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan. He was short listed twice for the post of Vice Chancellor for Mehran University and Quaid-e-Awam University. He was Member Syndicate of Quaid-e Awam University as a representative of HEC. He has visited more than 15 countries of the world.
