At an altitude of 13,700 feet, at Babusar Top, local people break the naturally accumulated snow on the mountains with shovels, load it into their vehicles, and transport it to the hot city of Chilas, about an hour away, where they sell it. People there use this snow to make sherbet and to chill water, bottles, and juices.
