There is a kind of grief that nobody talks about.

The kind where someone is still a part of this world, but no longer a part of yours.

They are still alive. Still somewhere out there. But you no longer feel the presence you once did, or the presence you wish you could feel.

Here is a story about that kind of loss, one that can sometimes be so difficult to explain.

Episode 14 | Umeed

Some cities are built by roads and buildings. Others are built by the people who call them home.

In this episode, our two most amazing storytellers, Maryam🍒 and Zainab | Storyteller & Poetry Writer reflect upon the kahani of Karachi, a city that has its share of struggles, but also a city whose people continue to shape it every single day. There are things that need to change things that can make us wonder what the future of this city will look like.

And yet Karachi keeps going. And maybe, in a city with so much to fix, the biggest reason to hope is its people. They work, they create, they care for one another, they build communities, and they continue to imagine something better.

Perhap's that is the only umeed left for this city - it's log, it's people that call it home nevetheless

There are certain sounds that instantly feel like home. For Karachi, the rhythm of Lyari is one of them.

There’s a version of Karachi that lives in postcards. And then, there’s the real one: loud, layered, unfiltered, and full of life.

At KARAANCHI FEST, we were so glad to see that spirit come alive through Mehrghar For a while, it felt like a little Karachi within the Fest; familiar, vibrant, and alive, with the sounds that bring us closer to home Karachi.

We are grateful to Mehrghar for bringing this beautiful expression of Lyari’s culture and musical heritage to KARAANCHI FEST, and for helping us celebrate the sounds, stories, and spirit that make this city so uniquely ours.

Because sometimes, the best way to celebrate a city is simply to let its music speak.

Episode 12 | Adhoori Muhabbat

Sometimes, a story stays with you long after it ends.

In this episode, Ghazal Shahid shares the story of a young girl who left her home and came to Karachi, eventually finding her way back to her mother through an unexpected chain of events.

But what stayed with Ghazal was not just the reunion. It was the thought of why a child might feel the need to leave home in the first place?

The story made her and us all reflect upon the importance of giving children and the people we love enough love, trust, and reassurance to know they can always come home. Because sometimes, the love we give someone can become their safest place.
