Thandiani Set for a New Era of Mountain Tourism
A major tourism development project has been announced in the scenic hills of Thandiani, Abbottabad, aiming to transform the area into a four-season mountain destination.
Spanning 400 kanals at an elevation of around 9,000 feet, the proposed project includes a hospitality district, residential spaces, and pedestrian-friendly public areas designed under an eco-conservation framework to preserve Thandiani’s natural beauty.
According to GDA officials, the project is expected to contribute over PKR 23.2 billion to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, while independent technical and audit oversight will be part of the partnership.
However, the project is currently in the planning and approval stage, with mandatory environmental assessments and regulatory approvals still pending.
If completed as planned, this development could bring new opportunities for tourism, local businesses, and connectivity in the Hazara region.
Can Thandiani become Pakistan’s next major mountain tourism destination while protecting its natural landscape?
