SOCORRO, Surigao del Norte β The Department of Information and Communications Technology β Mindanao Cluster 2, in partnership with the Local Government of Socorro, and the Siargao Unified Resources for Information Technology (SURF-IT) culminate the success of 25 scholars who participated in the month-long Rural Impact Sourcing Technical Training - Virtual Assistance Course at Bucas Grande Rural Business Process Outsourcing Center on June 20, 2018.
Socorro Municipal Mayor β Hon. Denia Florano warmly welcomes the influx of guests as she delivers her opening remarks. She expressed her great appreciation for the scholarsβ hard work and the contribution and support of their partners, leading to the overall success.
Former Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator of Socorro, Reynerio T. Canta Sr. joins the roster of esteemed guests and shares his vision of improving the ICT landscape in the island, which aims at providing thousands of job opportunities online.
The 25 scholars were ecstatic to have finally completed the training course as they reach for their respective certificates. Ten sholars were reportedly employed online as virtual assistants prior the graduation. Mr. Rolin Quisado, the top 1 of the batch shares how the training has transformed him before meeting DICT and its programs β satisfied of being a computer attendant and a frequent DOTA player, he never thought of becoming a skilled virtual assistant and is expected to receive his salary any time soon.
Gracing the graduation ceremony is DICT Undersecretary, Monchito Ibrahim who passionately shares how developments in the countryside is a big leap towards bridging the digital divide. He also shares the importance of capacity-building through ICT as a tool that could emulate positive change. Further, he challenges the LGU to remain proactive so development would never cease to empower and improve the lives of the people.
Program Manager, Ms. Emmy Lou Delfin, gives a recap of the DigitalPH program and shares the recent developments of having been able to provide free Rural Impact Sourcing Technical Training in many parts of the country. Through this training, DICTs' goal of providing digital opportunities in the countryside will be attained.
Tech4ED Project Manager, Maria Teresa Camba also attends the ceremony and inspires everyone with several impact stories all across the country through Tech4ED. She also invites the scholars and guests that the Center will always a home, providing access to ICT-enabled services, and opportunities for employment.
Brian Dominic Padilla, the RISS TT trainer inspires the graduates to keep honing their skills with the knowledge imparted to them during the month-long training. He is positive that the skills they have learned will pave way towards achieving their dreams for their families and themselves.
DICT Mindanao Cluster 2 Director, Evamay Dela Rosa, in her closing remarks thanks DICT's various partners for the valuable contribution and utmost support in the culmination of the RIS Technical Training. She relays a story of how hardwork and perseverance can help a person go places, thus posing a challenge to the newest ICT champions, to work their best which will truly help secure their future.
