EARTH DAY 2026 🌱
This Earth Day, we look back on a space where stories were not just told, but truly heard.
We had the honor of participating in “Unheard Voices of Climate Action”, an interactive forum and multimedia exhibit made possible through the collaboration of Tagpuan Ateneo Center for Dialogue, Research, and Collaboration, MindaNews, and Areté.
Held at The Loft and Campos Interactive Room in Areté, the gathering brought together voices from across sectors - students, academics, policymakers, civil society, and government, creating a space for dialogue grounded in lived realities.
At its heart were the stories of frontline communities in Mindanao: the mangrove stewards of Siargao, the upland Ata-Matigsalug rice farmers of Davao, the Teduray communities of Maguindanao, and coastal residents of the Turtle Island Heritage Protected Area, each carrying Indigenous knowledge and practices that continue to shape climate resilience.
The multimedia exhibit itself was brought to life through the work of students, whose thoughtful curation and creative interpretation helped translate these lived experiences into stories that could be seen, felt, and understood by a wider audience.
Through documentary screenings directed by Bebs Gohetia, guided reflections, and thematic discussions, the forum reminded us that climate action begins with listening.
Because the most powerful voices are often the ones unheard.
This Earth Day, let’s move beyond awareness - honor these voices by protecting their lands, supporting their communities, and making choices that safeguard our shared future. 🌿
