Palarong Pambansa 2026 qualifier Marjorie Macaballug of Legislative District 1 is carrying on her sister's legacy after escaping strong competitions in the finals of the 8-Ball and 9-Ball tourneys to secure her return to the CAVRAA Meet.
Marjorie, younger sister of former region 02's four-time billiards queen and two-time Palarong Pambansa bronze medalist Princess Jocel, overturned a 1-0 deficit against fellow LD1 player Danica Soriano in the 9-Ball finals to mount a comeback, 3-2, and defend her ISPAA Meet crown.
In the 8-Ball finals, Macaballug asserted her dominance over Czeiahne Reign Oralio of LD6, 4-1, to rule her older sister's caregory in last year's ISPAA edition.
The Grade 12 student of Santo Tomas Technological International School said she is eyeing to earn another ticket for the Palarong Pambansa next year.
"Sana po gaya ni ate PJ [Princess Jocel], makamedal na rin ako ngayon sa Palarong Pambansa since last year ko na sa high school," Marjorie said.
The older Macaballug, who is now in college, was a bronze medalist during the 2024 and 2026 Palarong Pambansa.
Marjorie and her sister both competed in the Palaro tu AgSur after reigning supreme in the women's billiards in the last edition of CAVRAA with Marjorie beating Princess Jocel in the 9-Ball and the older Macaballug edging Marjorie for gold in their 8-Ball encounter.
