Bringing passion, power, and artistry to the stage, we proudly represented in the celebration of Indanan Day’s 121st Anniversary with the theme “One Indanan: Advancing Good Governance, Preserving Culture, Strengthening Community.”

With every beat and movement, we showcased unity and creativity, proving that culture and modern expression can move as one.

Sulu State University, through the Office of Student Affairs and Services, in partnership with the Future Bridging Leaders Program Alumni Association, proudly presents Suntuan 2026: Student Leadership Summit with the theme "Sailing Together: A Leadership Journey Toward Collective Impact," happening on April 26–27, 2026.

This year, the summit broadens its horizons by bringing together not only student government and student organizations, but also Students with Diverse Abilities, Students with Unique Backgrounds, and our stalwart Athletes and Artists, fostering a more inclusive leadership space that celebrates diversity, collaboration, and shared purpose.

Designed as a transformative leadership journey, the summit moves student leaders from inspiration to action. Through keynote and plenary sessions on bridging leadership, participants engage in hands-on Design Thinking to identify challenges, develop solutions, and shape initial program concepts. Collaborative planning through GPOA development and a World Café–style further strengthens partnerships and shared initiatives.

SSU Joins Successful Conclusion of PASUC NCAF 2026

The PASUC National Culture and the Arts Festival 2026 has successfully concluded with an awarding ceremony, marking the culmination of a vibrant celebration of culture, talent, and artistic excellence among State Universities and Colleges nationwide.

Sulu State University, as part of the Region IX delegation, actively participated in the Vocal Duet and Street Dance categories, contributing to the region’s overall achievement as Runner-Up alongside fellow institutions.

SSU proudly brought home a Bronze Medal in the Vocal Duet and secured a place as a National Finalist in the Street Dance Competition, highlighting the dedication and talent of its student performers.

The university extends its congratulations to the Stalwarts Performing Arts, students, and coaches, led by Cultural Director Dr. Almashien S. Lipae, for their commendable performance and for representing the university with pride.

Gratitude is also extended to Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, for her continued support to student initiatives and cultural endeavors.

The festival’s successful conclusion stands as a testament to the unity, creativity, and shared commitment of participating SUCs in promoting Philippine arts and culture.

Sulu State University proudly claims its place on the national stage as a National Finalist in the Street Dance Competition (April 11, 2026) at the PASUC National Culture and the Arts Festival 2026!

With electrifying movements and undeniable passion, our dancers brought pride to Region IX and showcased the true spirit of Stalwart excellence.

Our heartfelt congratulations to all the dancers and choreographer , Mr. Abdel-Mushab H. Sabtula who poured their energy and artistry into this outstanding performance.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Cultural Director Dr. Almashin Lipae, Dean of Student Affairs Engr. Firash Zhed S. Ututalum, MS.c, Asst. Prof. Krysha S. A proud and historic moment for Sulu State University as we shine on the national stage!

Representing Region IX, our Vocal Duet showcased passion and excellence at the PASUC National Culture and the Arts Festival 2026, earning a well-deserved Bronze Medal 🥉 after placing 4th in the eliminations and rising strong to 3rd place in the finals (April 09, 2026).

More than just a victory, this milestone marks the first national achievement of Sulu State University as a newly converted State University—a testament to the growing legacy of excellence and pride.

Kudos to Mr. Nurhakim Tumacder and Mr. Alkhalid Arani for a performance that truly resonated with heart, harmony, and brilliance.

Our deepest appreciation to Coach Mr. Hamdani Sabaddin, Cultural Director, Dr. Almashin Lipae, and the Dean of Student Affairs, Engr. Firash Zhed S. On our first Pamudjihi as a State University, we proudly celebrate our Stalwart Students for earning the Bronze Medal in the PASUC National Culture and Arts Festival Vocal Duet Competition.

Sulu State University Joins Opening of PASUC National Culture and Arts Festival 2026

Sulu State University (SSU) officially took part in the opening ceremony of the PASUC National Culture and the Arts Festival 2026, held at West Visayas State University, gathering State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) from across the country in a celebration of culture, heritage, and artistic excellence.

With the theme "Pagpasidungog sa Aton Panublion, Kultura kag mga Bagandi,”the four-day festival, running from April 8 to 11, highlights the rich cultural identity and creative expressions of participating institutions.

The opening program featured a series of ceremonial and cultural presentations, including a grand parade, street dance performances, and messages from distinguished officials, setting the tone for the festivities and competitions ahead.

Representing SSU was University President Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, together with the Stalwarts Performing Arts. They joined fellow delegates from Region IX, including Western Mindanao State University, Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University, Jose Rizal Memorial State University, JH Cerilles State College in representing the region on the national stage.

The ceremony was further highlighted by the presence of Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education, whose message underscored the importance of culture and the arts in strengthening national identity and unity among higher education institutions.

SSU extends its full support and best of luck to its delegates as they showcase their talents and represent the university in this nationwide celebration of culture, creativity, and tradition.

Day One of Bayla Sa’yo officially kicked off with an engaging lecture on the basic foundations of Contemporary, Street Dance, and Folk Dance.

Participants were introduced to the history, purpose, and essential elements of each category building a strong understanding before moving into physical ex*****on.
This first day laid the groundwork for meaningful movement, helping dancers connect technique with identity, culture, and expression. A strong foundation today means a stronger performance in the days ahead.
