Sometimes, we wait for the right occasion to honor the people who have loved us the longest.

But appreciation becomes more meaningful when it is expressed while they can still receive it.

Last Mother’s Day, this family chose to make their mother feel celebrated with an Umbrella Bouquet — flowers held in something given a new purpose, for someone whose love has carried so much.

Mother’s Day may have passed.

But making her feel seen, appreciated, and loved does not have to wait for another year.

Upcycling teaches us to look again.

Because value does not disappear just because attention moved somewhere else.

An old umbrella can still become a wrapper.
An ordinary piece can still carry flowers.
Something overlooked can still become a message.

That is one thing I enjoy about flowers and upcycling. There is excitement in looking at an ordinary item and asking:

“Will this successfully deliver what I want to say?”

An umbrella can speak of covering and care. That is why I don’t just see umbrella as a container.

… IT IS PART OF THE MESSAGE.

Because sometimes, giving flowers becomes more meaningful when the whole piece feels personal.

Not just beautiful.
Not just different.
But thoughtful.

Some people give flowers only when there is an occasion.

For me, it became a weekly discipline.

It started during courtship in 2023 — with a simple desire to help someone discover her favorite flowers.

Years after, I still give her flowers weekly.

But over time, my work with flowers did not stay in one form.

Fresh flowers.
Dried flowers.
Crochet flowers.
Lego flowers.
Woven flowers.
And then, all these experiences led me to Upcycled flower pieces.

Because the goal was never just the bouquet.

The goal was the message.

To keep finding thoughtful ways to say:

“You are remembered.”
“You are cherished.”
“You are still the one I choose. 🙂”

Most bouquets are wrapped beautifully.

But after the flowers wither, the wrapper is often thrown away too.

So, what if the wrapper can still have a purpose?

This is why I have this drive about flowers and upcycling.

A bouquet does not always need disposable wrapping.

Sometimes, it can be held by something that already had a life before.

An umbrella
A basket.
A jar.
A box.

Flowers may wither, but thoughtfulness does not have to be disposable.
