This mirror art piece is an exploration of expectations and prejudice women go through using symbols and icons. While the world celebrates women as symbols of vital life, that reverence often brings intense societal pressure. Through various symbols and figures representing the cycle of life, I examine how these pressures alter a woman’s physical appearance, mature her emotional landscape, and ultimately transform her identity. It is a process akin to shedding skin—forcing women to adopt different masks simply to navigate existence.
These ever-changing phases inevitably call our identity into question. We are taught to crave perfection, beauty, growth, and stability, yet this pursuit makes us hyper-aware of our flaws and uncertainties. Ultimately, these mirror sculptures serve as a space for confrontation and healing. By looking through the reflection rather than just at it, the viewer is invited to look past societal imperfections and realize that we are whole human beings, learning to love every fragmented piece of ourselves.
