2028 HYPOTHETICAL RACE: DUTERTE-PADILLA LEAD NARROWS TO 12 POINTS
MANILA (Bicol News) - The hypothetical 2028 presidentialāvice presidential race is showing a narrower national gap between the Sara DuterteāRobin Padilla and Leni RobredoāBam Aquino tandems, based on figures attributed to OCTA Researchās second-quarter 2026 Tugon ng Masa survey.
The Sara DuterteāRobin Padilla tandem posts a 12-point national lead over the Leni RobredoāBam Aquino tandem, with 16% of respondents still undecided.
The reported 12-point margin is described as the narrowest gap between the two hypothetical tandems so far. Previous commissioned surveys in 2025 reportedly placed the difference at around 20 to 25 percentage points.
Regional figures, however, show sharply contrasting patterns.
In Balance Luzon, RobredoāAquino leads with 54%, giving the tandem a 30-point advantage over DuterteāPadilla.
DuterteāPadilla, meanwhile, leads in the National Capital Region (45%), Visayas (60%), and Mindanao (86%).
The largest regional gap is recorded in Mindanao, where DuterteāPadilla holds an 81-point lead. In the Visayas, the tandem leads by 30 points, while its advantage in the NCR stands at 12 points.
The figures underscore the wide regional differences reflected in the hypothetical 2028 matchup, even as the reported national gap between the two tandems has narrowed compared with earlier commissioned surveys.
