"May this kind of customer never find us again."
One thing I’ve learned as a small business owner is that kindness should still come with boundaries.
I dedicated my time and effort to this order and even gave a discounted price because I personally know the customer. Despite hearing certain things beforehand, I still chose to trust and give the benefit of the doubt. For several days, I kept receiving promises that the payment would be sent later, only for the day to end with another apology.
It has now been a week, and the order still remains unpaid.
I understand that unexpected situations can happen, but as someone running a small business, delays like this greatly affect us too. We put genuine effort, time, and resources into every order we make.
This experience is a reminder for me to set clearer boundaries moving forward, including requiring down payments no matter how close or familiar the customer may be.
Supporting a small business also means respecting the time, work, and commitment behind every order.
