𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐎𝐍 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐆𝐘𝐍𝐘 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐄𝐗𝐈𝐒𝐌 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐒𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐄

We are Something Creative, a growing theater and arts independent organization from Naga City, one of which Tino Perez represented during an open mic performance on the social night of Pista nin Teatro and Tanghal Lusong 2026 held in Legazpi, Albay. We stand before you as an organization who is also against misogyny and sexism, which our delegate, Tino, have inapproriately made jokes about.

We also stand with women and victims who have experienced harassment, discrimination, and all types of oppression-- things that artists should never make into a humorous content especially for entertainment. We believe that art comes in varied forms and is a formidable tool to provoke and urge the mass to continue discussing and taking actions over pressing sociopolitical issues; but this should be crafted with utmost sensitivity. Otherwise, it will only be a counterproductive bundle of thoughtlessness and hate propaganda masked as satire.

Something Creative do wholeheartedly apologize for our own lack of supervision on our own delegates. We ourselves were also uncomfortable and disapproving of the whole stand-up performance, having compelled to cut him mid-performance and reprimand him immediately after.

Tino performed on his own judgement without our clear and full approval of his prepared script. Despite introducing himself under our name, he will reflect on his view and creative choices as well as face the consequences of his actions on his own.

Our organization takes accountability over the member and the incident, and has already discussed on the coarse of action that will be taken. It is also our responsibility to ensure the quality of work and values, not only of our group as a whole, but also our members as individuals.

Despite the turmoil and discomfort that this situation gives, we thank ARTIFA, DABA, and AFS for opening the discourse on the tolerance of r**e and discrimination culture that is often overlooked in the arts scene. This is a reminder for all artists to be responsible with their content and be mindful of the subjects; choose the right platform; as well as reevaluate their use of sociopolitical struggles in art and humor.
