From May 20โ22, 2026, educators, artists, cultural workers, and advocates gathered at the Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary and Ili-Likha Artists Village, Baguio City, for Lecture Series 2: โThe Art of Exploring the Praxis of Applied Cosmic Anthropology,โ organized by the Asian Social Institute (ASI).
Among the featured lectures was โArt and Spiritualityโ by Dr. Joseph Richard C. Renta III, Administrator of the San Beda Alabang Museum and Archives. His presentation highlighted the role of artistic expression as a pathway to spiritual reflection, human connection, and a deeper appreciation of life's transcendent dimensions.
Dr. Renta joined an esteemed roster of speakers, including National Artist Kidlat Tahimik, former NCCA Chair Felipe M. de Leon, Jr., PhD, Jeffrey A. Lubang, PhD, Mina M. Ramirez, PhD, and Marco M. Polo, PhD, whose presentations offered diverse perspectives on culture, spirituality, indigenous knowledge, decolonization, ecology, and the future of humanity.
The three-day event served as a venue for meaningful dialogue and interdisciplinary reflection on contemporary issues and humanity's relationship with the self, community, nature, and the cosmos. More than an academic gathering, it became a space for encounter, reflection, and shared learning among individuals committed to fostering a more humane, sustainable, and interconnected world.
