February is declared National Arts Month per Presidential Proclamation No. 683 signed in 1991.

This year’s fete takes on the theme “Alab-sining, Alay-sigla” as the celebration continues to provide opportunities for harnessing artists’ creative energies in uplifting the nation’s spirit. NAM aims to conserve, promote and popularize Filipino artistic creations; integrate the arts in the community life; and harness the arts as catalysts for values education.

SPA Upholds Human Rights!

National Commission for Culture and the Arts: Did you know that December 10 of every year is Human Rights Day in the Philippines by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 347 signed by President Elpidio Quirino in 1952? The proclamation was prompted by the second anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the General Assembly of the United Nations at the Palais de Chaillot, Paris, which happend in December 10, 1950.

According to the United Nations, the theme of this year's Human Rights Day, "Recover Better - Stand Up for Human Rights", relates to the COVID-19 pandemic and focuses on the need to build back better by ensuring Human Rights are central to recovery efforts.
