Today, we celebrate the 20th Sacerdotal Anniversary of our University Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Virgilio M. Paredes Jr., OAR.

For two decades, Fr. Virgil has faithfully answered God’s call to the priesthood, serving His people through the celebration of the Eucharist, the ministry of the Word, prayer, and loving pastoral presence.

As our University Chaplain, we thank Fr. Virgil for being a spiritual companion to our university community and for continually reminding us to keep Christ at the heart of our journey.

May the Lord continue to bless you with strength, wisdom, and joy as you faithfully continue your ministry. May He sustain you in every step of your priestly vocation and grant you many more fruitful years in His service.

Happy 20th Sacerdotal Anniversary, Fr. Virgil!

Ad multos annos!

Sometimes, we carry things in our hearts that we do not always know how to express. So, we created a little space for you to pause, choose a color, and simply let your heart speak.

Located at the back of the St. Francis of Assisi Chapel, our β€œA Color for Your Heart” board invites you to choose a color that reflects what your heart needs today.

Take a moment. Choose a color. And remember, you do not have to carry everything alone.

Last October 2, we gathered in prayer for the eighth day of our Novena Mass in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, reflecting on the theme β€œFraternity and Community: Building Relationships Marked by Compassion, Forgiveness, and Solidarity.” The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Esmeraldo Enalpe, OFM, Provincial Assistant Secretary of the Order of Friars Minor.

As we continue our novena, may we learn from the example of St. Francis to build communities rooted in compassion, practice forgiveness, and stand in solidarity with one another. May our relationships become a reflection of Christ’s love, especially toward those who need understanding, accompaniment, and care.

Last October 1, we continued our Novena Masses in honor of St. Francis of Assisi with the theme β€œJoyful Faith: Witnessing to the Gospel with Hope, Gratitude, Love, and Joy.” The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Christian Completo, OP, Parochial Vicar of Immaculate Conception Parish, Santa Cruz, Laguna, who invited the faithful to rediscover the meaning of true Christian joy. He also reminded us that β€œJoy is not the absence of problems. Joy is the presence of God in the middle of our problems,” encouraging us to hold on to hope when life is difficult, practice gratitude even for the lessons brought by our struggles, and allow our faith to be shared through simple acts of love and service.

As we continue our novena journey, may we carry this joyful faith into our homes, classrooms, friendships, and communities. May we learn to trust God in difficult moments, be grateful in times of blessing, love in the ordinary, and remain joyful because God is with us. Like St. Francis and St. Thérèse, may our little acts of love become a beautiful way of witnessing to the Gospel.

Today, October 5, we gathered in prayer for the Votive Mass in honor of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, reflecting on the simplicity, humility, and trust in God that marked the life of our patron saint. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Virgilio M. Paredes Jr., OAR, University Chaplain.

In his homily, Fr. Virgil invited us to look at the burdens we carry and to ask whether we are trying to carry them on our own or allowing Jesus to walk with us. He reminded us

β€œIf our life feels unbearably heavy right now, ask yourself: whose yoke am I pulling? Are you trying to carry the world's demands on your own? Or are you letting Jesus carry it with you? St. Francis reminds us that our worth isn't measured by our brand-name clothes, or measured by our car model or our job title, but by how much God loves us.”

He also reminded us that our worth is not measured by the things we possess, our status, or our achievements, but by how much God loves us. Like St. Francis, may we learn to let go of what weighs us down, embrace simplicity, and place our trust in Christ, whose yoke brings true peace, real rest, and genuine joy.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of our University Chapel, as well as a patron of ecology and animals.

St. Francis reminds us to live with simplicity, humility, and love for God, His creation, and our brothers and sisters. May his example inspire us to care for our common home, serve those around us, and find joy in the simple blessings God gives each day.

Celebrate with us tomorrow, October 5, 2026, at 12:15 PM for the Votive Mass in honor of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi at the St. Francis of Assisi Chapel. Let us come together as one community in prayer and thanksgiving as we celebrate the feast of our beloved patron.

St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us!

Yesterday, October 1, we gathered in prayer for the seventh day of our Novena Mass in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, with the theme β€œJoyful Faith: Witnessing to the Gospel with Hope, Gratitude, Love, and Joy.” The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Christian Completo, OP, Parochial Vicar of Immaculate Conception Parish, Santa Cruz, Laguna.

In his homily, he shared: β€œThe promise of God is this, na sa hirap na ating pinagdaraanan, hindi niya tayo iiwan. Kaya nga ang tunay na joy o kagalakan ay hindi Everything is going well, kundi Even when everything is not going well, I know that God is still with me. Hope when life is difficult, gratitude when life is good, love when life is ordinary, and joy because God is with us.”

Fr. Christian reminded us that joy does not mean having a life without problems, but knowing that God remains present even in the midst of our struggles. As he reflected on St. Thérèse and St. Francis, he encouraged us to live our faith through the ordinary moments of our lives, choosing hope when life is difficult, gratitude when life is good, love in the ordinary, and joy because God is with us. May we, too, learn to trust in God even when life does not go as planned, knowing that His presence is enough to keep us going.

On September 25, we gathered at the St. Francis of Assisi Chapel for TaizΓ© Prayer, the culmination activity of the RCAM Ministry on Campus Awareness Week, under the theme β€œLaudato Si – Praise Be to You, O Lord!” Through contemplative prayer, sacred music, silence, and reflection, we were invited to slow down and make space for God in the midst of our busy lives.

In his reflection, Rev. Fr. Virgilio M. Paredes Jr., OAR, University Chaplain, reflected on Christ’s invitation to enter the β€œinner room” and pray to the Father who sees in secret. He reminded us that in a world filled with noise, expectations, social media validation, and the pressure to perform, our faith must not become a performance for others. Instead, we are called to cultivate a sacred space where we can encounter God in silence and authenticity.

As we ended the prayer, we were invited to return to that sacred place within us, allowing God to renew us and reminding ourselves that we are His children, loved and held by Him. May we carry the spirit of TaizΓ© beyond the chapel, choosing to pray, listen, and remain rooted in God’s presence even amid the noise of everyday life.
