Art Weave follows the practice of the weavers, whose work carries a cultural language shaped across generations. Through their hands, patterns are sustained and reworked, opening into new forms and visual directions.

Working alongside visual artists, the practice extends through exchange and experimentation, creating space for new approaches within familiar structures.

The project supports their practice as livelihood while expanding the contexts in which their work is seen and valued.

Kinuttiyan and Inladdang come from Ifugao weaving traditions in which weaving remains closely tied to everyday life, land, and community. They reflect how status and meaning are carried through textile practice.

Kinuttiyan, tied to prosperity and abundance, carries the idea of light as guidance and well being, to give light and to brighten one’s path, while Inladdang extends this through village scenes of terraces, dwellings, vegetation, and animal forms.

Together, they frame how status, environment, and lived experience are held in woven form.

Positioned at the intersection of contemporary art and textile practice, Art Weave convenes visual artists and Cordilleran weavers in a sustained exploration of collaboration, process, and material thinking.

Since its initiation in Baguio in 2022, it has evolved through workshops, exhibitions, and commissions into a platform that holds both experimentation and continuity. It frames weaving within contemporary practice while remaining grounded in cultural knowledge and lived experience.

At its core, the initiative affirms weaving as a slow and deliberate practice, expanding its presence within contemporary contexts while sustaining its cultural grounding.

Among the works in the exhibition are handwoven textiles from Saori Hands of Love, created through the Japanese inspired practice of saori weaving. Rooted in a philosophy of freedom, saori celebrates individuality, imperfection, and personal expression.

Through the program, weavers with special needs engage in a creative and nurturing space, encouraging patience, focus, and confidence as they express themselves freely.

At the heart of , these textiles reflect how weaving can extend beyond craft into daily life, embodying a practice that blends creativity, mindfulness, and community.

The ordinary asks for nothing, yet it alters how we move through the world.

What the Silence Holds draws attention to the understated, gentle forms that shift how we notice, perceive, and inhabit our surroundings.
