"PUBG" (Korean: 배틀그라운드[Note 2], English: PUBG: Battlegrounds, also translated as "PUBG: Battlegrounds", referred to as "PUBG", formerly known as "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds", also often referred to as "eaten" Chicken"), is a multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Studio, a subsidiary of Korean video game developer KRAFTON Inc.[1].
"PUBG Mobile" was first released on the Microsoft Windows platform, and the trial version was released through Steam on March 23, 2017 [2], and then the official version was released on December 21, 2017. The Xbox One version was released by Microsoft Studios in December of the same year[3][4]. The PlayStation 4 version went on sale on December 7, 2018[5]. The Google Stadia version went live on April 28, 2020[6]. Until 2020, the game has sold 70 million copies[7] and PUBG Mobile has been downloaded more than 600 million times[8]. The main game will be transitioned to a free-to-play system from January 2022.
The game also received several Game of the Year nominations, among other honors. PUBG Studios has held several small tournaments and introduced game tools to help broadcast the game to viewers as they hope it will become a popular e-sports, with the game slogan "Chicken Tonight"[Note 3] , the game is banned in some countries or regions [9], referring to it being harmful and addictive to young players.
