In todayโs Gospel, Jesus tells the story of a landowner who carefully prepares a vineyard and entrusts it to tenants. The landowner provides everything they need, yet when the time comes to receive the fruits, the tenants refuse. They reject and even kill the servants sent by the owner, and finally they kill his son.
The vineyard represents what God has entrusted to us: our lives, our families, our faith, our talents, our relationships, and the opportunities to do good. God has given us so much, not simply for ourselves, but so that our lives may become fruitful for others.
Sometimes we can become like the tenants. We may think that everything we have belongs completely to us. We become attached to our possessions, achievements, plans, or position and forget that everything is ultimately a gift from God.
