Thoughts ni Toti for Today:
I find it unsettling that some people obey God and follow the Bible only out of fear of hell. Faith rooted in fear feels small compared to faith rooted in love.
It’s hard for me to accept that the fires of hell would await those who believe, who show compassion and understanding, who endure, and who accept their brothers and sisters despite flaws and indifference. If we are all marked by sin and saved only through the Only Begotten Son, then who are we to stand in judgment of one another?
I choose to believe that faith should draw us closer to mercy, not just keep us afraid of punishment.
The Arvin Aragon issue feels exhausting to watch. It’s difficult when someone speaks loudly about God’s word yet seems to overlook God’s mercy. Scripture without compassion becomes noise.
Maka-Diyos pero hindi maka-tao.
If we claim to follow Jesus, then mercy, humility, and love should be evident in the way we treat people. Otherwise, what exactly are we preaching?
