It is baffling how Tonic's spontaneous strokes seemingly result in deep, calculated chaos, like emotions frozen in time, forever captured on canvas, and usually accompanied by ci******es and coffee.

His pseudonym, Gene Tonic, coined by his friends one night, describes his relationship with and fondness for liquor. Like the birth of his pseudonym, his creative process cradles the same level of spontaneity (if not more), making his abstract masterpieces unique.

His political views mirror his style, which transports his audience to an independent space to interpret his works—a journey of self-realization beyond his two-dimensional platform.

𝗝𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗲'𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻' presents Saint Jerome absorbed in writing, traditionally associated with his translation and chronicling of sacred texts. The warm golden light illuminating his head and upper body contrasts with the darker, more chaotic background, emphasizing contemplation and divine inspiration.

The splashes of red and black dramatically disrupt the classical aesthetic. They resemble blood, ink blots, or wounds—visual metaphors for the cost of recording truth, the violence embedded in history, or the raw materiality of writing itself. These splatters break the illusion of a serene devotional image and introduce a contemporary, almost expressionist intervention. It feels as if the chronicle is not just being written but bleeding into the present.

𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺' is an emotionally charged interpretation of Saint Jerome’s lamentation. His upward gaze and raised hand symbolizes a plea, confession, or desperate prayer, while the other hand pressed against his chest emphasizes inner turmoil and repentance.

What makes this piece especially striking is the layered, almost collage-like composition. The grayscale figure in the background, positioned upside down, introduces disorientation and tension. Itsymbolizess the fallen or worldly self, memory, or sin—set in contrast to the saint’s illuminated, repentant state. The splashes of red and black feel visceral and contemporary, evoking blood, suffering, and emotional fragmentation. These abstract elements disrupt the classical aesthetic, blending sacred iconography with modern expressive techniques. Love begins as an invitation — to step forward, listen, and move in kind. In Shared Gravity, love is approached as a dance: a shared choreography where two bodies meet and move through the same rhythm while retaining their differences.

Like any dance, love carries its own highs and lows. There are lifts that feel weightless and descents that test balance; moments of perfect synchrony and others marked by missteps. But what holds the partners together is a shared gravity: a force that keeps them tethered even as they drift.

Shared Gravity is a meditation on connection. Because love, like tango, is never solitary. It requires two willing bodies, risking imbalance, and choosing—again and again—to move together.

Dabuet, an architect by profession, has spent more than two decades refining his craft— patiently developing his style and reimagining his voice across mediums. In his latest works, he returns to what feels most instinctive: charcoal and pastel, materials that allow him to create images of striking intensity, mirroring the landscapes of his own psyche.

A self-professed adventurer at heart, Dabuet carries his journeys into the studio. The roads less traveled, the quiet detours, and the unfamiliar terrains he seeks out leave lasting impressions, shaping the way he sees, feels, and ultimately, creates.
