Manila Sky started out as a 5-pc cover band playing new wave and 80's music. Formed in 2013, the group was quite short-lived due to individual schedules and priorities. Eric Tubon who suggested the name, thought of re-branding the band into an entirely different genre, thus, a new group was formed. Still adopting the name, Manila Sky (circa 2015) is now a 4-pc group consisting of Abby Clutario (Chapman Stick), Eric Tubon (Tabla, Keyboard, and Seaboard), Aldous Castro (Handpan and Percussions) & Charanjit "CJ" Wasu (Tabla, Harmonium and Dhol). The music of Manila Sky is a fusion of western, Indian and Filipino musical styles. With the use of unconventional instruments, their music provides a wide array of textures, created mostly through improvisation. Manila Sky's sound is soothing, with a minimalistic approach that transcends to complex patterns, creating a visceral effect that stimulates the listeners' mind, body and soul.
