“Earthly Prayer" 🤲🏻
The silence that envelops the surroundings,
The chaos that's been screaming,
With shaking hands she whispered an earthly prayer,
"Let her live forever."
The hands that died out in the meadow,
That once beautiful daughter of some mother and father,
Now lay asleep, resting — forevermore,
The final goodbye has to be let go.
In the last minutes of her wake,
The memories of her flooded,
Those who saw her heart that glowed,
Appreciated the kindness that flowed.
Oh, dear heavens, you have earned another angel,
One that will be missed,
One that left a legacy that stills,
Inked in the stems of the tree she built.
You garnered the good ones, Heaven,
And now we were left with crumbs,
Of the fragmented memories of her,
When she's still here on earth.
The purple sky now lights up with your name on it,
May you rest in an eternal paradise you praise in,
Because God knows the pain
Of losing you all the same.
Maybe in another life,
Maybe in another time,
We will meet eye-to-eye,
And smile.
