Ohh able to replay this on a linux system this time.
Still SE did a s**t job of a port for the PC version.
This may help windows users as well.
The game came ported with a slop job and broken nvidia DLSS version. Main issue VRAM memory leak.
Was able to overcome that by swapping DLSS to a modern version and running model preset M.
For linux it was an easy injection of optiscaler and configuring from there.
For windows there are ways like dlss swapper or via nvidia app or optiscaler too!
So now game settings from the menu:
Graphics High preset
DLSS - balanced
Cap FPS to 60
Turned off motion blur (wasted effect who needs this s**t - personal pref)
->Optiscaler/linux Once the settings are saved load a save file or continue your game.
Open optiscaler and force/override DLSS changes to use model M for preset.
For linux specifics: Steam and compatibility used is Proton Experimental (bleeding-edge) branch.
You can change it via looking up Proton Experimental in your steam library then do Properties > Game Versions & Betas > bleeding-edge. It will update/download. Use that to force compatibility for FFXVI and all set.
