ANNOUNCEMENT: The Riff is Closing at Its Current Location
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that The Riff will be permanently closing its doors at our current location. This decision did not come easy, but the circumstances around operating here have made it unsustainable.
When I first opened The Riff, it was with the vision of creating a space where people could gather, enjoy live music, and support our growing community of local artists. Sadly, recent restrictions have made it impossible to keep that vision alive in our present home:
โข The 1AM liquor ban has greatly limited sales, making it hard to cover our operational costs.
โข From the beginning, the Barangay allowed live bands until 11PM (while downtown bars could play until 12AM). I accepted this in good faith, even though our area is a commercial zone that shouldโve allowed midnight music.
โข Just recently, we were told by authorities that live music must now end at 10PM. This is a huge blow, as live music is at the core of The Riffโs identity and our mission to provide a stage for the local music scene.
These restrictions ultimately mean that The Riff cannot continue as it was meant to be.
But this is not the end. We are actively searching for a new venue where The Riff can truly thrive, free from these limitations. Whether itโs as a bar, a studio, or a space for practice and recording, I remain committed to supporting our local music scene in every way I can.
Thank you to everyone who has shared your nights, your music, and your energy with us here. This chapter may be closing, but the story of The Riff is far from over.
