Without any proper blocking pins, I made do with metal paper clips and they worked extremely well. I have since reused them many time after this first blocking experience ;)

Blocking in crochet is the method of wetting-stretching-drying a piece on a frame or support into its intended size and/or shape.

The first time in my adult life that I did this was in 2022. I made a triangular shawl using bamboo-cotton yarn.

I used foam puzzle mats as a self-healing underlay. Their interlocking nature was helpful in achieving the size and shape of backing I needed.

I also used an upright steam iron to dampen the piece.
