Halo-Halo

Packed in a tall glass or a clear bowl, shaved ice is mixed with sweetened fruits, crops, and other treats. You pour in milk and stir it well until the whole summer mix blends into one cold and creamy delight that you can enjoy with every slurp and bite.

MY BIRTHDAY SONG

to you Travel Bulb Philippines! Here's to another year of traveling around the country!!!

Good to the Last Stop

Lose your worries and part with your cares.
We have a trip that will take us to sea or up in the air.
The roads may not be built
but the paths are already there.
Let our sense of adventure lead us with a prayer.

The wise say travel light
We, Filipinos travel bright.
We fill our bags with laughter, stories and cheer
Always making room for noodles, sardines and beer.

We wear our flip flops, shorts, tees, and cap
and pose for our selfies to send to our flock.
It’s our way of inviting them to come join us soon
because we miss them when we hear our favorite tune.

Refrain:

We travel to forget, we travel to celebrate,
we travel to bond, we travel all year round.
We welcome the sun, we dance in the rain
We hike till we drop We’re good to the last stop.

History, culture, values and truths
Shared by old folks, artists and cooks
They give us insights of what our forefathers were like
while sampling prepared feasts much to our delight.

I understand now why God put me here.
The people, the sights, the encounters made it all clear
The Philippines is my cradle, my playground, my piece of heaven
There’s no stopping now as pure enjoyment is a given.

Sandy Toes & Salty Kisses

The carefree days of summer are almost over but the wild tides and good vibes will carry us through another amazing season ahead.

Good thing this amazing summer has set the pace and momentum that makes running in the rain something to look forward to as I let this summer fling fade away.

CRAVE & RAVE in AZALEA

This is a restaurant out of the way of the tourist bustle but the view, ambience and food more than make up for the effort.

The restaurant is named after a popular and beautiful flower, Azalea. In Asia, this flower represents elegance and wealth. It is also regarded as a symbol of fragile passion.

I suggest that you go for lunch or date before sunset to fully appreciate the panoramic sea view and the scenic mountainside that both enhance the dining experience in this quiet and charming restaurant that simply ramps up the romance.

RED ROCKS TAN

We took a challenging and steep trek down to the river bed to take photos of the picturesque Pulangbato Falls.

This 30-foot high waterscape has water spilling from its belly into a natural sulfuric pool which they say is a “must-swim” for people with skin conditions.

As for me, aside from satisfying my photo-taking compulsion, I was also able to get a natural tan - the kind that gives your skin a rust hue glow like the planet Mars.

Now, that’s what I call one red hot gorgeous adventure.

ENCHANTED

I took a trip to Siquijor carrying with me Roald Dahl’s attitude. He said, to “… watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”

I realized that you find what you seek. I sought for magic and the island sent us HONEST and helpful locals who shared with us the beauty of their land, both natural and man-made. This gave us opportunities to trek and swim as well as indulge in a little photography and poetry.

We were also treated to their easygoing style of entertainment and recreation. We took delight in sampling their traditional food, fusion cooking, and island cocktails.

But what I am most grateful for is the gift of unhurried pace that allowed us to get ample rest and gain a little harmony within.

So they say that there are five colors of magic. All I can vouch for is white... as that’s the color of magic I experienced in Siquijor.

Silliman University

The Silliman University campus is a marriage of brilliant architecture and beautiful landscaping. Upon entering its gates, one will be inspired to pursue his education in this cohesively planned university village.

It is best that you tour the campus on foot to fully appreciate the open green spaces, athletic fields, and buildings that house the elementary and high school levels as well as the different colleges and institutes.

The other prominent structures that one should not miss visiting are the Silliman Hall, the Silliman University Church, the Silliman Library, and the Luce Auditorium.

It is one of the few universities that has its own zoo and beach located within its main campus.

No wonder, the Silliman University landed on the 2014 list of “World’s Top 50 Best Christian University Campuses.”

DUMAGUETE & its RIZAL BOULEVARD

Dumaguete is the capital of Negros Oriental which is located in Central Visayas. In 2014, Forbes Magazine named it as one of the seven of the world’s “Best Places to Retire” based on climate, cost of living, healthcare, crime rate, infrastructure, entertainment, and other factors. It is also known as “the city of gentle people” to which I resoundingly agree.

Strolling down the Rizal Boulevard is like passing through the main corridor of the city where you meet people with ready smiles and mild demeanors. You can ask for directions, tips, or any information about the city from the local folks and they will go out of their way to help you despite the language barrier. They speak Cebuano but many understand Tagalog and conversational English.

The activities and establishments you find along and across the boulevard give you subtle hints of what this city holds close to its heart. No wonder this city has charmed both the young in their pursuit of education and the retirees in their enjoyment of prolonged sunsets.

STCM - OUR DEAREST HOME

Come, let's sing our sweetest song,
Sing it well and loud and long.
For the dear old college walls,
For the old familiar halls,
For our Alma Mater's sake,
Bright and glad our song we'll make.

Dearest home we stand for you.
Far or near our song rings true.
our song rings true.
And our theme fore'er shall be,
"St. Theresa, hail to thee!"
And our theme fore'er shall be,
"St. Theresa, hail to thee!"
St. Theresa, St. Theresa,
Hail, hail to thee!

TWO SEASONS ISLAND RESORT & SPA
Coron, Palawan

13-year-old Sam, shares with us the highlights of their trip to Two Seasons which is around an hour speed boat ride from the port.

1. Fast & Furious and soaking wet speed boat ride to the Resort but the crew immediately handed us with towels ( so wear quick dry clothing);
2. Warm Filipino brand of service. The staff even shared with us casuy (cashew) that are grown in the island.
3. The breakfast buffet is very good especially because it offers my favorite cheese (goat cheese). Of course I also recommend the 4 cheese and pepperoni pizzas for lunch.
4. The Resort is really world class and the guest room interiors are nice and modern with very comfortable beds.
5. The rooms have very nice views.
6. Beach water is good and clean.
7. There are so many fun family activities to do like island hopping, snorkeling, and fish feeding.
8. Except for the island being far and isolated, I would love to be back here.

Sam also shared an update that the Two Seasons Resort is building a hotel in the town proper that may open late this year.
