ICYMI | "Taklob," the VC 128 exhibition, officially opened yesterday, May 19, at the Jose T. Joya Gallery, Communication Wing, UP Cebu.

Running until May 29, 2026, under the theme “revealing what has long been unnoticed,” this powerful photography exhibition pulls back the curtain on the unseen world of labor. It invites viewers to pause and reflect on the workers, vendors, and everyday people pushed to the margins by the relentless drive for development, serving as a reminder that every comfort we enjoy is built on their backs.

FEATURED | TAKLOB: A GLIMPSE INTO THE WORLD OF THE UNNOTICED WORKING CLASS

Taklob, a photography exhibition by the freshmen BA Communication students of University of the Philippines Cebu, officially opens today, May 19, and runs until May 29, 2026, at the Comm Wing of the Jose T. Joya Gallery.

The exhibition explores the theme "revealing what has long been unnoticed," highlighting everyday laborers whose contributions often go unseen.
The exhibition features 159 works capturing the daily routines of the working class. The showcased photographs tell the stories of people whose labor serves as the foundation of society, who battle the constant struggle of making ends meet, and whose skills keep the economy running despite often remaining overlooked.

Taklob is open to the public for viewing at the Jose T. Joya Gallery, Comm Wing, University of the Philippines Cebu.

𝖠𝗇𝗀 𝗀𝗂𝗍𝖺𝗄𝗅𝗈𝖻𝖺𝗇, 𝗄𝖺𝗋𝗈𝗇 𝖺𝖻𝗅𝗂𝗁𝖺𝗇. 👁

The workers, vendors, and ordinary individuals whose presence we sometimes fail to notice as we go about our daily lives are brought to light in the exhibition — 𝑻𝒂𝒌𝒍𝒐𝒃.

Taklob invites audiences to pause and reflect on the structures that impose hardship on these individuals, particularly the relentless drive for development that often pushes them to the margins.

As Iskolars ng Bayan, this exhibition serves as a powerful reminder that the education we are immersed in is supported by the tireless efforts of countless individuals working to make ends meet.

Taklob is both a tribute and a call to conscience. Now, more than ever, is the time to witness and absorb.
