BUILT DIFFERENT 🌬️
Forget planned obsolescence. This ceiling fan in Aklan apparently did not get the memo about retirement.
A ceiling fan donated to Makato Integrated School in Makato, Aklan during school year 1995–1996 is still working roughly three decades later, continuing to blow air inside a classroom despite its visibly aged appearance.
YouScooper Reuben T. Melanio shared a video of the fan after being surprised that it remained operational after all these years. The old unit bears a marking identifying it as a 1995–1996 PTA project, providing a visible reminder of just how long it has been hanging above generations of students.
“Na-amaze lang ako kasi gumagana pa siya kahit 30 years na,” Melanio shared in the original YouScoop submission.
Rust may have entered the chat, but retirement apparently has not. According to the submission, the decades-old fan can still produce a strong breeze, turning an ordinary classroom fixture into an unexpected online attraction.
The story also brought something new into the classroom. Melanio said proceeds earned from his video allowed him to purchase an additional stand fan, which he donated to the teacher-adviser of the classroom where the veteran ceiling fan continues to operate.
Thirty years of service, countless school days and still spinning. At this point, the fan may deserve its own service award.
