Gloc-9’s song “Upuan” reveals a harsh reality: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲’𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
Corruption has become deeply rooted in the Philippines, stealing funds that should protect and serve the people. Every peso lost to corruption is a classroom never built, a hospital bed never bought, a farmer left without support. When those in power choose personal gain over public good, the nation bleeds and the people pay the price.
Statistics show as much as PHP 1.029 trillion of the government’s climate-tagged expenditures could have potentially been lost to corruption since 2023, including PHP 560 billion in 2025 alone. The funds that have been stolen, misallocated, or wasted are not just numbers. They are money meant for education, health, agriculture, and other basic needs of the people, the areas that build our country’s future.
𝘼𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖 𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙖𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝙢𝙜𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙣, 𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝙗𝙪𝙡𝙨𝙖 𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙜𝙖 𝙜𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙣.
𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. Today, as we commemorate the EDSA Revolution, we also begin Aksyon Laban sa Korapsyon to fight corruption that continues to poison our nation. The 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 stands with the citizens who took part in 𝗕𝗮𝗵𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗮 and the 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝘀𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵, carrying forward the spirit of change by openly and strongly opposing every act of corruption.
𝙃𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞 𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣 𝙠𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙮𝙤 𝙨𝙖 𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙞 𝙣𝙞𝙡𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝙠𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙖𝙙𝙖, 𝙠𝙖𝙮𝙖 𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙪𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙜 𝙠𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙢𝙖 𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙖.
𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝘁𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻. We have already seen how unchecked corruption erodes democracy, endangers lives, and deepens inequality. If we do not hold ourselves accountable for electing unworthy leaders, the same abuses such as ghost projects, embezzlement, and false promises will reoccur. 𝘓𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘶𝘯𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯.
History will haunt us, not by what could have been, but by what we do now. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 “𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘰” 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘢𝘺𝘰𝘴 𝘯𝘢 𝘨𝘰𝘣𝘺𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘰.
