UPRHS Speech and Dramatics Club The SDC taps and hones the talents of its members in dramatics and related arts by acting, speaking, writing, and directing through various productions.

The SDC works under the supervision of the English Department. The SDC taps and hones the talents of its members in dramatics and related arts by sponsoring various productions and workshops in acting, speaking, writing and directing. Its usual activities include Cultural Week presentations, plays, film showings and workshops on acting, writing, speaking and directing. The club also sponsors talks and symposium on the various facets of speech and dramatics, debates, public speaking and literary activities such as Speech Choir, Chamber Theater, Short plays, full length stage production, poetry reading, and writing and playwriting.

[OFFICAL STATEMENT]

We will never forget times when the stage was taken from us; times when performing the truth demanded courage greater than applause could ever offer.

We honor Lina and all the fellow Ruralite artists im Mutya who continue the fight for change, as they bring theater beyond the stage and that the nation will always deserve our service and be entertained with the truth.

We as artists recognize that freedom is not merely a chapter in our history books; it is played out through our portrayals that challenge and condemn the injustices by voices that amplify our struggles and repressed rights.

From the struggle that we face in present-day concerns such as surrounding that of Pax Silica, the lethal takeover of Artificial Intelligence and persisting corruption, we must ask weather there is truly progress served when our voices are overlooked and labeled as “drama.” But dramatics is a language of development that silences their silencing oppression; we open the curtains to the idea that theater is a stage to display our struggles and continue the fight for the advent of true freedom in EDSA.

Our performance will not merely entertain, as it will always have the courage to matter by upbringing our current lives in the name of the lives who refused to surrender in history.

Fear not, for amidst the blinding lights and mesmerized stares of the audience below, you aren't alone! Meet the officers of the Speech and Dramatics Club, dedicated creatives who are always one call away, for members old and, especially, new. Whether it be during club meetings or on the stage during club productions, we'll be there, and we especially hope to see you !!

Within Rural’s 97 years of thriving as an academic training ground; common experiences or, “canon events” are things that you can’t exactly avoid. 😅

Even so, there hasn’t really been a written record of these so-called moments that happen to almost every Ruralite. As a way to remember 🤔, share 📣, and reminisce 💗 about our Ruralite days, the Speech and Dramatics Club introduces

where any Ruralite (current or former) may submit a story of their very own experiences in Rural which will be posted on our social media accounts.

📣 Be creative, relatable, funny, but most importantly respectful–inappropriate stories and mentioning real names are PROHIBITED. 🙅‍♀️

On February 11, 2026, Rural's air swirled with magic and wonder 🔮, welcoming not only the start of HE-Aggie Fair, but also setting the stage for Lantad 2026: Fiction in Fashion! Bringing together characters from all sorts of universes 🌌, the event, and its participants especially, painted Rural's walls with rays of creativity and whimsicality 🎨 !

As the chills from our latest event linger, the Speech and Dramatics Club is excited to share the highlights from 𝗣𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗼: 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 held last November 19, 2025… 🩸🕯️

Participants brought the dark pages of horror to life by transforming into characters from their favorite horror books, films, and shows. From eerie to spine-chilling, the creativity and dedication of our participants truly made the event a haunting success! 👻📚
