It was an ordinary Monday night when Marjorie just finished eating dinner after a long day at work. She went to feed her leftover to the stray cats waiting outside of her backdoor. Instead of the ginger cat she kept feeding regularly, she found a black cat with a large set of yellow eyes, waiting for her. As she laid the leftover food on the ground, she began to have an eerie feeling. She looked up to see a dark entity emerging above her.

She went AWOL the next day.

This illustration is inspired by an old Filipino lore about black cats being shapeshifting creatures. In our language, we call them โ€œAswangโ€. I was feeding a black cat the previous night and thought of this concept.
