Aklanon noise advocate and sound artist wxyzzyxw (W. J. Manares) presents whirwhiz - a compilation of experimental music drawn from his 2020 pandemic-era demo albums ZWEIZESTS and DOZENFECTANT. The album merges raw noise, field recordings, and micronoise to capture the isolation and sensory shifts of lockdowns, with a dual sonic identity evoking both mechanical drones and fizzy, percussive textures. It features 24 tracks blending unpolished soundscapes with distorted synthesizers, granular synthesis, and folk fragments from diverse cultures.

KALIBO, Aklan — Creatives and aspiring songwriters gathered earlier today for PANUBLION: A Songwriting Workshop featuring Joey Ayala, marking the kickoff of the 2026 Kalantiao Creative Summit.
The workshop provided participants with insights on songwriting rooted in culture, history, and identity. Through discussions and interactive sessions, attendees explored how music can serve as a powerful medium for storytelling and cultural preservation.
The event was organized by JCI Aklan Kalantiao in partnership with LGU Kalibo, the Kalibo Council for Culture and the Arts – Performing Arts Guild, and the Aklan Arts & Crafts Society.
PANUBLION 2026 highlighted the importance of nurturing local talent while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Aklan.
