SLU Responsive Branding for University Spaces

Responsive Branding for University Spaces (REBUS) is a student-led organisation at Saint Louis University dedicated to improving campus experiences through consistent, functional, and intentional design. It reinforces the university’s visual identity, serves as a campus-wide design lab for students, and encourages collaboration across disciplines. By working closely with university offices, departments, and organisations, REBUS ensures its projects align with institutional goals while giving members opportunities to build professional skills, foster connections, and grow as leaders. Guided by the Vision-Mission of Saint Louis University, the organisation’s initiatives are designed to benefit the Louisian community and prepare students for life beyond the university.

🏆 THE FINAL STANDINGS ARE IN! 🏆

Our recruitment run is over, and the leaderboard for this edition of "CAN YOU REBUS?" is officially set in stone.

Out of everyone who stepped up in the plaza, ONLY ONE walked away with a completely unique score on the board. It just happened to be the number one spot, where 'LIAAA' successfully defended their ground from day one, proving that 7 points was the ultimate target to beat. 👑

This concludes our recruitment booth run, but "CAN YOU REBUS?" will be back for future events, so keep your eyes sharp.

Thank you to every Louisian who braved the timer, and to those who applied, welcome to the nest!

🪪 Nice lanyard. Is your ID actually in it? 🪪

Welcome to the new Academic Year, Louisians! 💙

By now, you’ve survived the first few days. You’ve faced the morning rush, and realized that you can't charm your way past the turnstiles.

Consider this a warning from our fluffy blue owl: don’t forget your SLU ID. Wear it, and keep it visible. Save yourself a gate pass and a trip to OSAS. 🚨

Stop pretending it's "somewhere in your bag" when it's actually collecting dust back at your dorms.

Still no physical ID yet? Freshies, continue bringing your white form (your schedule / proof of enrollment) in the meantime so you don't get held up at the entrance.

Have a great semester ahead! And remember... forget your ID, and Little Arci will judge you with no mercy.

🌧️ STAY SAFE & WARM 🌧️

As the weather remains unstable due to the enhanced southwest monsoon, please be vigilant. 💙 If you're currently around the city, make sure to stay alert for continuous heavy rain, winds, and potential flooding.

Per Mayor Magalong’s suspension and SLU VAA Advisory No. 2, s. 2026, face-to-face classes tomorrow (Monday, August 10) are moved online via a flexible learning modality.

Take care, Louisians!

📖 Fonts have stories too. 📖

Yes, you read that right. Comic Sans, the most debated, mocked, and memed typeface in design history, was originally created because of a cartoon digital dog named Rover. 🐶

Designers might shudder when they see it on an infographic, but it was born out of a rebellion against improper type hierarchy inside Microsoft Bob, a forgotten 90s desktop interface built for absolute beginners. Type designer Vincent Connare, looked at the cartoon dog speaking in a serious, academic serif font and immediately knew it didn't fit. In his words, "Comic dogs don't talk in Times New Roman."

Though it was meant strictly for casual speech bubbles, Comic Sans was added to the standard system fonts of Windows 95 and went global by accident (for better or worse). Yet, it has a hidden superpower: its irregular letter shapes made it more accessible and easier to read for people with dyslexia.

Context matters, so use it for something like accessible learning materials, but maybe leave it out of your next PowerPoint presentation or group project! 💙

🌦️ Board Update!🌦️

Navi’s in a raincoat to remind you that the sky’s been getting dark, and you know what that means~

Don’t take your umbrellas for granted, they're shields against the heat and rain. c:

Take care and don't get too cold, Louisians!
