DEATH NOTICE

I had the privilege of meeting this beautiful soul, Mr. Wamu Walu, who hailed from Masingara Village in South Fly District, Western Province.

His beautiful wife is a primary school teacher, and he himself served with the Southern Highlands Provincial Government in the 1990s. His wife and children returned to Daru during the election related violence in Mendi in 2002 and himself remained in SHP.

When Hela became its own province, he joined the late Governor Anderson Agiru and served with the Koroba-Kopiago District and LLG. He was later promoted to Senior Internal Auditor with the Hela Provincial Administration in 2014.

It is with deep regret that we announce that this beautiful soul passed away on 26th May 2026 at Port Moresby General Hospital after a short illness.

Late Mr. Wamu Walu dedicated his life to public service, serving with integrity, humility, and commitment for over 30 years. He served both the Southern Highlands and Hela Provincial Governments with distinction as a Senior Internal Auditor, and was a key figure during the transitional separation of Hela and Southern Highlands Provinces. His contribution and legacy will forever be remembered.

His body is still at the funeral home in Port Moresby. The family is appealing to the Hela Provincial Government (HPG) and Hela Provincial Administration (HPA) for immediate assistance with the repatriation of his body to his final resting place at Masingara Village, South Fly District, Western Province.

May his soul rest in peace.
