Hi everyone💚

📢Apologies if I have not been very active here📢

I'm posting this to acknowledge the 8 beautiful hanenamos of Motu-Koita. They are from Tatana, Hanuabada, Tubusereia, Kouderika, Elevala, Pari and Gaire with 2 entries. These 8 hanenamos will be vying for the crown which will take place next on the 5th of March!!

•PLEASE SAVE DATES•
1. 28th February 2023 - First Judging of our hanenamos at Tutu Beach Retreat .
2. 3rd March 2023 - Hiri Moale Opening, Sponsors night.
3. 4th March 2023 - Welcoming of the Lagatoi and Vanagi Race.
4. 5th March 2023 - Hiri Hanenamo crowning.

I want to acknowledge these 8 beautiful ladies for taking on the role of representing their villages and family and honoring their ancestors, the voyage and the livelihood that dated back decades ago.
Kudos on you all for taking this step, to be a hanenamo is not easy as it means a lot of sacrifice just as took our ancestors. You will hear all these little stories from your elders about your lagatois, your tattoos and how life was back in the past. You will follow the old ways just as every other hanenamo did.
It will be scary if you think about it and your first judging you will get the goosebumps, if it were 1 advice I were to give, DO IT FOR CULTURE, DO IT FOR IDENTITY💚.Our culture seems to be fading away! Whatever knowledge you know and learn, bring it out to the world.

Also keen to hand over my title to one of you beautiful lady also!💚

I am a daughter of this land🇵🇬
I am a daughter of this sea.
I am a descendant of a Voyage. Voyage that seeks in order to survive. A Voyage that feeds the villagers of this land.
I am a descendant of markings that depict warriors,death,hunger,great feasts,tabu and livelihood.
I am a daughter of this land🇵🇬❤️

Apologies for not being active on this account💞
Today is a special day for our lovely mother's, sister's who are mother's,or maybe pet mothers and also to the daughter's who were made responsible to look after their siblings whom their mothers have passed🥰.
When I think of mother,I think of the word "Giving",meaning the women we celebrate are givers,just the same as God gave to Mary, a wonderful Lord to give to us. Just as women give us life,giving comes with pain and for that we celebrate the women who were/are here yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Here's also to the mothers in heaven,we celebrate who you were on earth,we celebrate the love and kindness that was once here. We pray for love and strength for the families left here without these awesome women.
Happy mothers day all the lovely ladies on Earth and Heaven,💞.
