What a guy!

Congratulations to our apprentice Lachy for taking out the Whanganui and Taranaki Regional Apprentice of the Year.

Lachy will compete in the national final up in Auckland in October. We can't wait to go and support Lachy in his journey, and we are so proud of how far you've come.

A massive shout out to our other apprentice Ethan, who placed in the top ten for the region as well. Can't wait to see what your future holds.

Every job has a labour allowance. Most carpenters only ever hear about theirs when they’ve gone over it.
That’s the bit we do differently.
We track labour against allowance on every job, and we talk about it — both ways, and while the job is still live. Every significant stage, and monthly. Not a post-mortem after handover when there’s nothing anyone can do with it.
When a crew comes in under, we say so out loud, and we look at what they did that made the difference so everyone else gets it too. When we go over, we sit down and work out why. Sometimes it’s how it was priced. Sometimes it’s a detail nobody had built before. Sometimes it’s us.
When you’re a good carpenter, that number is the closest thing you’ve got to a scoreboard - you should get to see it, you should get to beat it. And when you do, someone should notice. We do.
We’re looking for a qualified carpenter. Whanganui, full-time, permanent.

Here’s what “we finish at 5:00” actually means in practice:
Night before — Gear’s in the van. Nobody’s hunting for a nail gun at twenty past seven.
7:30 — On the tools. Everyone knows what they’re on, because the week is set in our scheduling system and every sub-trade on the job has already been notified they’re needed.
10:00 — Smoko. Sitting down, 15 minutes, whole crew.
12:30 — Lunch. Half an hour, off the tools properly. That’s how people are still sharp at three o’clock.
3:00 — Afternoon smoko, and a look at where the programme’s actually at. If something’s slipped we deal with it now, not in a fortnight when it’s cost us.
4:45 — Tidy up. Site left the way we’d want to find it.
5:00 — Heading home.
And on Friday, all of that happens an hour earlier. 4:00 knock-off, every week. It’s a 44-hour week and the Friday afternoon is yours.
We’re looking for a qualified carpenter to join us, get in touch with Simon:
📧 [email protected] 📱 021778983
Applications close Monday 7th Sept, unless filled prior.
Position start date: Monday 12 October - or earlier if available.

We start at 7:30. We’re off the tools at 5. Friday, 4:00pm.
Not “around 4:00.” 4pm.
If that sounds unremarkable, you’re probably the carpenter we’re looking for.
Located in Whanganui, full-time, permanent, starting Monday 12 October — earlier if you’re free.
We build architectural homes, high-performance builds well above Code and alterations that make you stop and think about how you’re going to do it.
We run a planned site. Every job is properly scheduled, every sub-trade notified before they’re needed. No guessing what happens next for you and the team on-site.
We talk about our labour allowances openly, both ways, while the job’s still running. Your numbers are information here, and we work with you on that.
We haven’t put a rate in this ad - but call me and I’m more than happy to talk you through the pay range.
No CV needed. Just tell me what you’ve built and what you’re proud of.
