Recently John from the .unmaking.podcast pulled up to my old home in Wānaka with a cleverly converted horse float called Flø. He interviewed me about my creative path so far, a lot of whys behind the making! I’ve not been interviewed like this before 😅 but managed to pull it off without too many “ums” something I’m famously good at including in my vocabulary. In this little snippet I talk about why I’m interested in figurative work. If you’re maker too, or just curious you may like to have a listen! Hardware but make it art! I made this Shaka cleat in wax then cast in bronze. Now I have a very fun and functional way of hoisting up my clothes rack 🤙🏽

In amongst the making of some very pretty things and my daily commute into town, I’ve been thinking a lot about how music and words make me feel vs. visual art. I’m beginning to explore how these could come together in my art. I can’t sing or play any instrument at all so words it is !
