🏃‍♀️🔥 The final Lava Glass medals are made!

Our studio has been busy handcrafting the glass medals for this year’s Taupō Ultramarathon, with Lynden and the team creating each medal individually in our studio.

Every medal is handmade, making each one unique - a special reward for the incredible athletes who take on the challenge and cross the finish line.

This year’s race on 17 October marks the final year that Lava Glass will be creating the handmade medals for the Taupō Ultramarathon, making this year’s medal particularly special.

To every athlete taking part: we wish you a fantastic race, safe running and the very best of luck! 🏅

Christine and Lynden recently spent two inspiring days in Auckland at this year’s Climate Change & Business Conference, connecting with businesses and hearing about the challenges - and opportunities - ahead.

Some of the numbers and projections were undeniably confronting. The scale of what climate change could mean for our environment, our communities and our businesses is sobering.

But there was also something incredibly encouraging: seeing so many businesses stepping up and taking meaningful action.

This year, it felt like there was a real shift. More action, less talk. 🌏

For us at Lava Glass, sustainability has always been part of the journey. We’re proud to keep learning, challenging ourselves and looking for ways to do better - while encouraging others to join the movement towards a more sustainable future.

Because the challenge is enormous, but so is the opportunity to make a difference. 💚

A wonderful evening at Auckland Museum. We’d like to extend our thanks once again to Auckland Museum for inviting Lava Glass to be part of The Glass Lens exhibition and its special panel discussion.

Christine and Lynden had a wonderful evening sharing the conversation with fellow glass artists Thomas Barter, Keith Grinter, Luke Jacomb, Tara Ross and Judy Newton - exploring the creative world they all work within, the influences that shape their practices, and the ever-evolving possibilities of glass as an art form.

It was a privilege to be part of such a thoughtful and inspiring conversation, surrounded by artists who share a deep passion for the medium and for creating contemporary glass art in Aotearoa.

Thank you to everyone at Auckland Museum who made The Glass Lens such a special showcase and to everyone who came along to listen, connect and celebrate contemporary glass with us.
