Behind every story brought to life is someone quietly weaving their own magic. ✨

Aunty Yvonne, one of our incredible costume designers, is one of those people.

With so much aroha, creativity, and care, she helped breathe life into Tērā Te Auahi. Every garment was thoughtfully crafted to honour our people, our landscapes, and the wairua of this kaupapa. Her vision didn’t just dress our cast, it helped them embody the stories they were telling.

Aunty Yvonne’s humility, dedication, and incredible talent are woven through every frame. She is one of the many unsung heroes behind the scenes, and this production simply wouldn’t be what it is without her.

Ngā mihi nui ki a koe, Aunty Yvonne. Thank you for sharing your gifts so generously and for helping us bring this kaupapa to life. It has been an absolute privilege to walk this journey alongside you. ❤️

E hīkaka ana mātou o Te Whare Tapere o Te Arawa, i te hokinga mai o “Tērā Te Auahi” hei te raumati e heke mai nei! The wait is over! Our Summer Season of Tērā te Auahi is back, and it will be our longest season yet! 🎭✨

Whether you missed it the first time or can’t wait to experience it again, this is your chance to witness the powerful story that captivated audiences.

🗓️ Our Summer Season will run across five incredible weeks, with performances every Thursday to Sunday from 15 January through to 14 February 2027. With more opportunities than ever before to experience Tērā te Auahi, there’s a show for everyone this season.

Hearing the reflections, whakaaro, and kind words from those who experienced the show reminds us exactly why we created this! Thank you to everyone who came along, shared in the kaupapa, and helped us bring this to life.

A never-ending mihi to every person who backed this journey and helped us to create opportunity. We are incredibly grateful.

Two lakes forever woven into the story of Tarawera.

This waiata also features Guide Tihi, representing the guides of the terraces who traversed these waters, hosting visitors from around the world to the healing waters of Te Tarata and Ōtūkapuarangi. Through their manaakitanga, the beauty and stories of Rotomahana were shared far beyond Aotearoa.

Tarawera. Ruawāhia. Wahanga. Our maunga.

We call to our maunga, acknowledging both the mountain that once was and the mountain that emerged on 10 June 1886.

Our maunga waiata and movement remembers the beauty, the loss, the resilience, and the enduring connection between our people and our maunga.

Though the landscape may be altered, its stories continue to live on. They remain in our whakapapa, our waiata, and in the generations who continue to carry them forward.

Our modern-day expression of the breathtaking Pink and White Terraces - a place of extraordinary beauty, known by many as the 8th Wonder of the World.
