While she’s still a work in progress, this is one of those paintings that genuinely has me thinking, “I can paint like this?!”

We all have moments where we doubt our progress, but stepping back from the easel today felt different. From hand mixing skin tones to the fine feather details, this piece is pushing me in the best way possible.

Very productive trip to the art shop yesterday 🎨 Four new canvases and a few fresh paints to trial!

I’ve spent time planning the references, palettes, and compositions, and I’m so excited for this series. I can tell these pieces are really going to push me as an artist, blending so much of what I’ve loved painting lately, landscapes, wings, and more recently, women.

“Wistful Thinking”

The feeling of a daydream. Representing those moments where your mind wanders to the “what ifs,” the roads not taken, or a chapter of life that have already closed, or those yet to happen.

What do you feel when you look at these pieces?

Presenting: “Remember Me” 🥀 & “Wistful Thinking” ✨

These two haven’t spent much time in the spotlight yet. One pushed me completely out of my comfort zone (and required three repaints before I felt ready to share), while the other flowed naturally and just got its final varnish.

“Remember Me” continues my inquiry into grief and how we search for and find signs of our loved ones in nature, physical objects, and ordinary everyday moments.

“Wistful Thinking” is me leaning into the nudge toward portraiture. It captures a softened moment of my own longing about what could happen if I just choose to follow that spark.

Both pieces will be heading to different galleries this July. Keep an eye out for details coming very soon!
