Tania HuddArt

Tania HuddArt I love walking paint and marks over different surfaces. I draw inspiration from my life experiences. I love walking paint over different surfaces.

The feeling of creating different colour pallets is of endless possibilities and the promise of adventures yet to be embarked on. Past, present and future collide and spill out onto the page when I paint. Painting creates time to reflect and be fully present as my mind traverses the maps, memories, experiences, journeys and emotions of a life well lived and now brought forth at the tip of a brush.

I started my professional life as a dancer and teacher, illustrating music through movement. Through teaching Pilates I have explored the body and the way it moves at an even deeper level. I believe this has given me a deeper connection with the human connection. Having dabbled with various art media over the past 30 years I am consistently drawn to mixed media abstract mark making to help me communicate with others. I love the flow and unpredictable movement of watercolour, the textural possibilities of acrylic. The way pastels and inks can highlight areas of a painting, creating intrigue. I feel a sense of freedom and clarity as I draw inspiration from my relationships, travels, movement life, love of maps, geography and topography. I thrive on creating a story that can be interpreted by the viewer in their own way as their eye roams across the work. I am excited by sharing a sense of community and adventure with people I have yet to meet through my art.

Today, my creativity is flourishing. I have incorporated two pockets into my butterfly journal to store cards received from two close friends prior to my relocation from New Zealand to Bermuda six weeks ago. I am deeply grateful for these enduring friendships. Despite time and distance, our shared experiences remain vivid.

Loving the Wilderness and Wonder course I'm doing with Roxanne Evans Stout. It has sparked a whole new mixed-media exploration. I can't stop! So inspired. Two of the pieces I created to be highly tactile. The fabric and papers are bound to a stick. The papers were created by using cellulose glue to stick a couple of layers of tissue together. The earthy-toned paper had string embedded between the layers. The blue/green paper had sculptural circles layered on top. I then tore and stitched or glued the chosen sections together. Some I added beads to. The fabric was eco-dyed and stamped with hand-cut stamps based on leaf and fish skeletons.
