👀 Looking for a rehearsal space in Kapiti 👀

We’re looking for a space to rehearse in for a few weeks for our upcoming show, Mother Courage and Her Children.

Our cast need a bit more room to practise pulling Mother Courage’s cart before we move into the theatre. Nothing fancy is needed, just a relatively empty area where we can safely pull a cart around. Ideally, we’d love somewhere where we could leave the cart in place between rehearsals.

If you have a space available, or know of a warehouse, shed, hall, or other large space in Kapiti that might suit, please get in touch. Thanks so much! 🙏

Lindsey was part of Maven Theatre Company’s inaugural production, The Ballad of Maria Marten, last year and is thrilled to return, this time as Mother Courage.

Playing Mother Courage is an enormous honour and a formidable challenge. To find herself taking on one of the great female roles in modern theatre is something Lindsey still finds slightly astonishing. Most compelling are Courage’s contradictions – her humour, toughness, pragmatism, love, ruthlessness and sheer determination to keep going – and the challenge of discovering a woman who refuses to be neatly defined.

**AUDITION NOTICE**
Maven, in partnership with Te Raukura ki Kāpiti, is seeking strong performers for Mother Courage and Her Children, on stage in October.

The story follows Mother Courage, and her three children Eilif, Swiss Cheese, and Kattrin, as they struggle to survive war. As a canteen woman, Mother Courage attempts to make a profit off the war by selling goods to soldiers. The very war that Mother Courage seeks to use to her advantage, however, ends up depriving her life of all it's worth. Created in 1939 by Bertolt Brecht, Mother Courage and Her Children, is considered one of the most powerful anti-war plays in existence.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Staged Reading and Workshop on Sunday.

It was exciting to hear the script read aloud for the very first time, and the discussion and feedback that followed provided valuable insights as we continue developing the work.

We also want to acknowledge our talented cast, Martin Tidy, Ingrid Corby, Tabatha Killick and Gabby Anderson, for bringing the characters to life for everyone who attended.
