A few weeks ago I took on a really cool project with a very tight deadline 😅.
Creating a National Costume for a Miss New Zealand contestant.
The costume was based on the Waitomo Caves, the water, the glow worm etc. It featured swirling layers of organza, upcycled leather and tulle, fibre optic whips hand sewn between the layers, seed lights in the cloak and glass rhinestones. It was many, many hours of work but it was worth it to see how good it looked on stage.
Congratulations Kalani Henry for coming 3rd runner up. Your resilience, charity work, and efforts have really done your family and Ōtorohanga proud. I know I was proud of you! How you held yourself, your mana, your presence was absolutely stunning the entire competition.
Thank you and Jennifer Terry White for trusting me to create your costume. It was so much fun, such a throwback to my design days. Xoxo
