Taranaki quilt festival 2026

I just love this quilt and I spent a lot of time trying to work out the pattern.
It was so well pieced together that it looked like a panel that was quilted and I had a few people say they thought it was a panel.

So I thought I would draw the shape of the pattern pieces just so you could see how it was put together.
There are 6 diamonds in each star, then the black diamonds are sewn together from 4 triangles.

Look how well those join lines meet and just take some time to appreciate the effect that went into this pattern.
All the different colours of the boarder strips are sewn together separately as well !!

Isn’t it just amazing !!!

I couldn’t work out the pattern because it was so hard to see where the sewn lines were until we got the owner of the quilt to come and explain it to a few of us.😊

A fantastic quilt made from retired ties collected over a year then made as a quilt as you go bed quilt.

I’ve never made a quilt out of ties because there’s so much work that has to be done before you even start sewing so congratulations Paige for a well made quilt.
I can’t wait to see the next quilt you have started.

It will be a great experience and it’s in Stratford so very close. 😁
You need to be under 18 for the junior challenge.

I’m a judge for the juniors challenge and I can’t wait to see the amazing work that comes in.
