Pikau are in hot demand I have 2 more to make.

The last photos is of a kete I finished today, first time weaving that pattern and it turned out pretty cool. The pattern is called whakapuare, meaning openings. I still need so much practice with kete 😅

My mum said I can put a couple things in my uncles exhibition in Coro, I'm thinking about it I have a couple weeks.

Kete timata the first kete we learn before kete whakairo. Woven in taki tahi, all natural.

I'm learning new ways to Tāpiki (lock off) and new ways of closing kete at the bottom. Working on my tension, making sure there's no holes.

Making kete is difficult for me I started off making pikau and I find them easier. The reason I joined my course is to work on my kete making and improve my weaving in general. I'm getting there.

Finished my kete kupenga very cutesy, very demure 🥰 ready for some pauas lol

Atamarie koutou. As part of my course I had to make a kete whiri. I have made them before but there are so many different ways to make them so I'm learning lots of different techniques. I didn't like the first one (the smaller one) so I made another that come out massive. It looks like a giant kono, I like it as it is 🥰 but I'm still debating on whether or not to put handles on it maybe it would be great in the boot of my car for shopping.

I've been fighting winter ills and chills and fighting my housework and my washing as always 🤣 finally feeling well enough to get creative again. The next thing I have to make on my course is a whiri kete so that's exciting. I get one type of kete a month and it's gonna take me til January to get to kete whakairo. I can't wait to start learning beautiful patterns, I've had a tutu before but for me it's much better to be shown, than to try figure it out on my own.

This one is for a friend 🥰 I wish I knew the name of the pattern.
