Many people have disrespected the flag by wearing it around their waist - with the design sitting on their kumu - aue!
That's not the one whānau! Here are some things to keep in mind if you're going to paint your clothing or your own flag....

Kao - Linda was not paid for the design from the Government, ever.

Kao - Linda does not get paid a fee from the many businesses that sell products that have the Tino Rangatiratanga tohu in/on it - even though those businesses are making money from Jans, Hirainas and her mahi!

Lind only makes money through selling her own toi (art) and a she also makes a percentage from selling her own Special Edition Tino range that is sold through Te Tauranga Toi - no-one pays her anything! However - if you koha stock to her she often takes that to the various kaupapa she talks at/attends and gifts it onwards... that is "free" promo from the source!

Linda is sick of seeing Temu, Alibaba and all the other non Māori businesses ripping off our tohu Māori - this is one way we can fight back...

For them its only about the $$$ - if no one buys from them - they wont sell it!

For us its about the kaupapa first - giving back to our Māori communities...

We are trying to build a solid list of Māori artists and retailers so that everyone can support only them - and not anyone else that do not give back to our communities...

PS: if you have been endorsed by Linda in the past please reach out so we can double check with her and put you on the list!

It seems our last post made a stir out there and hit some nerves!

We were flooded with pātai (and some nasty comments too, aue!) about the endorsement process, who's behind it and why...

so we thought we'd put some things up over this week to answer those Pātai (questions) with our Utu (answers) to keep you all informed of our intentions with Tino Rangatiratanga...
