I am a full-time artist and author, based in Masterton. I paint for about 10 years now, mostly self-taught . I hold several solo exhibitions, participating in Art Shows and Art Craft Fairs regularly.

Many of my artworks sold locally in New Zealand and overseas. I self published 5 picture books, now working on my sixth book, hoping to publish it in 2026.

My artworks are inspired by nature.

Usually, I work with vibrant colours that help me to convey emotions through artworks. Some people say my art reflects joy, happiness , a sense of visual healing and beauty.

I am an artist based in Masterton. I enjoy exploring a variety of artistic styles and mediums, embracing the challenge that each new approach brings. My current collection of distinctive acrylic paintings celebrates the places that make New Zealand special‚ from bustling towns and cities to peaceful rural communities.

Inspired by the colour, character, and stories found in everyday landscapes, I create vibrant, stylised artworks that capture a strong sense of place. Influenced by Fauvism, my bold use of colour and expressive compositions invite viewers to reconnect with the unique landscapes and spirit of Aotearoa.

Marty Andrew

I developed an interest in art around eight years of age. At primary School, my goal was to win the art section at the annual calf club day this gave me great joy as I would often take out first prize. As a young artist I often did pencil sketching copying from books and making my own drawings up. My mother would give me an easel and books to learn from.

When I was doing acrylics, I often wore a beret splattered with paint. To feel like my heroes Vincent van Gogh Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. All my artwork would be displayed on the bedroom wall on newsprint and I still have it all today. I also got recognised at college when I was awarded a special prize for art at the age of 16.

After leaving college, I did an apprenticeship as a joiner and some poker work art on timber glory boxes and a few poker pictures. I'm always learning and now I am working with oils and some acrylic as well. I use my own AI I call it Artist imagination. mARTy anDREW. (b1958- tba)

I do a variety of work in oils and some in acrylic. I like the freedom to express my art with what medium and size artwork I choose at the time. I enjoy doing detailed work or just plain abstract.

Brian Connor

I am a retired atmospheric scientist, formerly with NASA in the US, then NIWA in New Zealand. I now live in Martinborough. I have been keen on photography since childhood, and along the way and along the way experimented with darkroom work. I now spend my time on art photography with modern digital cameras. My work has been exhibited locally and in the US, published internationally, and received awards and nominations in international contests. My specialties include fine art n**e and local landscapes.

I photograph and process images which move me, and hope the results are evocative and moving to viewers as well. I have adopted the motto Aspiring Imagery, we cast our aspirations in images that transcend the limits of what we know and live.

New Zealand's beautiful landscapes have fascinated me since my first visit here in 1986. I moved to New Zealand 30 years ago, in part because I was fascinated by views of the landscape, with its fine detail revealed by the remarkably clear air and gorgeous light. I enjoy creating panoramas of the sweeping views.

The female n**e is one of art's most enduring subjects, and one of life's most beautiful sights. She evokes a deep emotional response, which I can only describe by saying it moves my spirit and inspires a sense of wonder. My photography of the n**e is my attempt to express those feelings, and maybe to convey some of them to the viewer. I specialise in expressive and/or environmental portraiture, and formal studies.

Grahame Harris

I was born and raised in Nelson and educated at Nelson College, where art was a
much favoured subject.

My Grandfather Albert Harris was a well known Nelson artist during the 1930s & 40s and a huge influence and inspiration for me. My younger years were spent raising a family and working in the commercial display and sign industry which left little time to chase my love of the arts.

Now in my retired years I can paint to my hearts desire and love every minute of it!
My passion lies in painting landscapes and New Zealand native birds in oils and
watercolours which has been a wonderful challenge! The native birds and pet portraits have proved extremely popular and are hanging in homes in New Zealand and around the world.

I have been lucky enough to participate in numerous exhibitions around Wellington
and Wairarapa and have work hanging in galleries throughout New Zealand.
I am loving my twilight years painting in the Wairarapa, enjoying its unique
landscape, light and many talented artists.

My preferred mediums are oils and watercolour.

I enjoy painting New Zealand landscapes, seascapes and New Zealand native birds.
In particular the beautiful Wairarapa coastline, native bush and surrounds capturing the wonderful light and way of life of people here.

Dave Wood

I've been a passionate photographer since my teenage years. I'm based in Featherston, in South Wairarapa. I exhibit regularly at ConArt in Masterton and Red Delicious in Greytown. I'm also a member of Carterton's Gallery 23 and have taken part in the Wai Art Sale since 2019.

Back in the film era, I always had two cameras, one loaded with colour slide film, the other with black and white. I developed and printed my own black and white photographs but always had my colour film professionally processed. Now well into retirement, I enjoy the new opportunities of the digital era while also spending time digitising my old black and white negatives and my colour slides.

Kirsty White

An upbringing in a remote part of rural Wairarapa has heavily influenced my love of landscape. Many moments daydreaming high up in hilly country or camping in native bush at the back of our family farm has filled me with a need to express this beauty we live in.

Moving to Wellington to study design, I easily fell in love with this dramatic, hilly landscape that cradles our harbour. My degree at Massey in Design (spatial design) introduced me to the wonders of the print room, where art, craft and design collide. I have been hooked on the magic of printmaking ever since.

Landscape has always been my anchor. Throughout my art journey I have felt unwavering desire to express more than just the beauty of our whenua but also this countries journey of habitation and connection within it. Asking myself‚ how does time and culture sit within this land?

Story telling through pattern work is common across cultures here in the Pacific, I weave it into my art to express that identity. Often incorporating specific narratives that relate to a site and a time. My process of research before making led me towards my unique style and imbued it with a passion for the beauty and stories of Aotearoa.

I am represented by several galleries throughout NZ and exhibit regularly, including with the NZ Art Show and Art in the Park. I also run printmaking workshops around Wellington which I really enjoy.

I like that printmaking allows me to express various ideas using the different print techniques. I use three techniques in particular...Drypoint etching, wood block relief and blind emboss. Combining these allows for the fine details and moody textures of a landscape to be achieved with etching, then the graphic qualities of woodcut for pattern work and soft, subtle information of emboss.

The overall effect can look like landscape and tapa cloth combining in one piece.

Hello, I'm Alana, a traditional and digital artist based in Palmerston North. I create artwork for both indoor and outdoor spaces, from original paintings and large-scale murals to custom commissions.

Alongside my art practice, I host fun, beginner-friendly Paint Parties and provide live speed painting entertainment for weddings, corporate events, and special occasions.

As a diverse artist, I love exploring a wide range of subjects rather than limiting myself to just one. My work includes landscapes, beaches, animals, florals, and more, with each piece designed to bring beauty, joy, and a sense of escapism. As a lifelong artist with a deep passion for creativity, I love transforming spaces with vibrant visuals that uplift the spirit and inspire lasting happiness every time someone gazes at my artwork. I would describe my style as being mystical realism. I still place my subject matter in its natural environment; however, the atmosphere is too perfect to be real, giving that mystical sense to my artwork.

A lot of my ideas stem from biblical references. I subtly weave the themes of rejoice, peace, love, harmony, beauty, and royalty into my artworks and title names.

Willa Maguire-Harbrow and Joseph Baxter

A local couple Willa Maguire-Harbrow and Joseph Baxter turning their passion into a small business called Starry night studios.

Willa and Joseph have created an Observatory in their backyard showcasing the beautiful night sky and world above us.

They have an online store aswell as being in local Art Galleries around Wairarapa and Wellington region.

Joseph Baxter has also been on the launchpad of Rocketlab in Mahia to photograph the rocket launching. They have passion and enthusiasm to showcase the world above us in all its beauty.

All handmade and printed in Aotearoa/New Zealand.

Heinz Speyer
I am German by birth and my wife is a New Zealander, we came to live in the Hutt 40 years ago. My background is graphic design and commercial art. Once I retired, I picked up a paintbrush and adopted painting as my "full time" hobby.

I paint using oils and Acrylics and draw using pencils. I joined Hutt Art Society in Lower Hutt and are a member for over 18 years. During that time, I attended special painting classes by well-known artists and always tried to better my skills. I am not adhering to one style only but try to adopt new styles and ideas to make my art unique and captivating.

To me everything in New Zealand is new and intriguing, It goes for the beautiful landscape, fauna and flora and the inhabitants of this slice of paradise. I love to paint Petone and the Hutt, the beaches and the hills, the harbour and Wellington cityscapes. Birdlife is so different and unique, and I don't grow tired to paint New Zealand's birds and everything else that has wings and can fly. I have exhibited my art for a number of years at the Wai Art Sale and have had only positive experiences.
