I’ve decided that I’m gonna make a few cot / bassinet blankets to donate to the NICU at Southland Hospital, the front is made from a jelly roll (20) and a 1 meter length of flannelette for the backing.
From these supplies you can make one large cot blanket or two bassinet blankets.

If you would like to jump on board and donate some supplies to get a blanket made and donated let me know.

A slow, rainy Monday turned into something pretty special today ☔️✨

We rolled out the paper, grabbed the pens, and spent the afternoon drawing side by side. No rush, no pressure — just creativity, imagination, and a whole lot of quiet focus with a YouTube tutorial (with a few proud “I can’t believe I’m drawing this” moments in between).

These are the moments I love most. Art doesn’t have to be perfect or polished — it’s about connection, confidence, and letting creativity grow in its own way.

Sharing what I love with my son reminds me exactly why I do what I do 💛

The Japanese myth of the koi fish becoming a dragon is a powerful story about perseverance, strength, and transformation.

The Legend

According to the legend, koi fish swim upstream—fighting strong currents, rocks, and waterfalls. Many give up along the way, but a few continue pushing forward no matter how difficult it gets.

The most famous part of the story happens at a waterfall called the Dragon Gate (sometimes linked to Chinese folklore but widely embraced in Japanese culture too).

When a koi finally manages to leap up the waterfall and reach the top, the gods reward its determination by transforming it into a powerful dragon.

I am super proud of this drawing!
